Do you blend coffee?
Do you blend coffee?
The short answer is no. We only offer single-origin from Colombian coffee farms
Why? Whilst blending is economically viable for large commercial high street roasters as they combine various cheaper single origins to tailor cupping notes and create their signature coffee, we find that blending would not be sustainable to add value to our coffee farm or micro lots

Although there are two different types of coffee bean: Arabica and Robusta, the arabica is to be a superior species of bean. Arabica produces a tastier, richer cup of coffee than Robusta. Arabica beans are sweeter and lighter with strong acidic notes than Robusta
Why do you pack in 250 g and 500 g?
These are the traditional Colombian sizes, but we can roast and pack in other sizes according to your convenience. Please, note that for special sizes we only pack for wholesale
Why do you sell whole beans?
We ship whole beans because some people prefer to grind under their grinding methods and because whole beans last longer since less oxygen contact, so some coffee notes and flavour won’t go easily

The roastery is a production location based on Bogota. The farms are further, in the Colombian Andes mountains

How do you roast the coffee?
Each bean is delicately handpicking and roast in a traditional roaster drum. Then, after naturally cooling the beans, we let the coffee rest to allow unwanted gases to escape and reach its intrinsic peak flavour. Once the beans stable, we pack them into airtight bags to keep the coffee from losing its cupping notes. The wholesale coffee bags are then marked with a roast date and batch code to ship to your place
How long have you been roasting coffee?
We have a partner with a highly experienced roasted team from Bogota- Colombia, and they have been roasting for about 20 years
How do you direct trade roasted coffee?
Our roasters, first analyse the coffee to get a roasting profile and subsequently make suggestions to bring out the aroma in the cup
Together, including the coffee farmer, are continuously improving agronomic practices and continually improving the quality of our beans.
Our roasters are artisans and coffee specialist who work hand to hand to maximise cupping profiles and satisfy our customer’s desires by trading from the source. Once they agree with the quality of our beans, we import to ship them to you
How do you commit to sustainability?
Coffee farmers play a crucial role in the global coffee supply chain. However, they complain rightly that coffee production has become struggling to cope. For example, inadequate infrastructure and difficult access roads, expensive agricultural supplies and coffee market value being generally too low to sell their produce among other issues
We want to bring confidence to the farmer that their products are paid fairly in a consistent manner. Therefore, we select farmer’s micro-lots in which quality excels, add value by roasting, packing, and delivering to your preferred place.
Every step in this process is carried out at the most direct way possible, so we can pay a fairer price and support us to adopt an ethical business model
To obtain a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) sign, it is necessary to acquire coffee from the origin and complete all its process for importations, including roasting
If you are interested in getting your brand or trade coffee for your premises under this program, please, buy PGI products
When will my order be processed and shipped?
Coffee Supermarket will deliver products on the same day if your order is successfully notified before 11:00 am during business days
During the holiday season, Royal Mail might get busier than usual, and orders might be a delay. However, Coffee Supermarket will make all necessary efforts to despatch your order as soon as possible.

Farming a micro lot gives the coffee grower more contact time with the crop. Quite simply-quality over quantity. By donating to us we will invest in production facilities or processing methods, so our products taste better and better
Why should I support you?
We work directly with the people who use the land to assure the desired quality
We are respectful when paying for their work and by working with roasters don’t only get closer relationships, but we source farming tools such as industrial machines for the process of beneficio and roasting at the local associations or onsite at the farm
What is the difference between the coffee declaring signs PGI and Café de Colombia and the ones that are not?
We are working to encourage sustainable coffee consumption.
PGI and Café de Colombia are distinctive signs that promote local coffee activities such as sustainable coffee farming and agricultural production
Colombian Coffee Federation continuously improves those activities
We at Montier and Coffee Supermarket cooperate with local government to maintain such signs. So, be reassured that the quality of our products is genuine
And, quality-wise, the products do not differ with or without logo
